My bike...or should I say the bike Jenny gave me when she left...was stolen from Kizaki eki (station) today. WHAT is wrong with Kizaki eki?! Ugh. On a positive note, at least it didn't get returned to me. =P

Lazy sugiru!

The longer the trip, the harder it is to blog about. That, plus I really didn't take very many pictures while I was back in San Diego. Yeah, I know, excuses, excuses. Oh well. Anyway, my trip back home to SD was great. I'm really glad I went back and saw my friends and family b/c not seeing them for 2 years would be too weird! I also missed everyone more than I expected. Like, I really enjoyed spending time with everyone I saw. Although I really didn't spend that much time with my parents as they were busy with work, I think that just me being back in the house was a good thing. Omg...listen to me...as if I was blessing them with my presence! Eh, you know what I mean.

I made it a point to eat most of the food on my list and I think I was pretty successful! Woot! However, the fat has caught up to my body and I just feel bleh these days. Gross. Shopping ended up not being as promising as I had hoped. Sad. I didn't bring back much to Japan since I don't want to worry about moving back to SD with 50 suitcases next summer. BUT, when I got back to my apt here, I was like, "WHY didn't I buy this and that?!" Oh well.

Everything at home was exactly the way I remembered it. When I was back, it really didn't feel like I had been gone a year. Nothing has really changed, except that everyone seems to be moving along with their lives in one way or another. Well, I guess that IS change, but everything still felt the same to me. I love San Diego and I hope that there is a place for me there when I return.

K, that is all I'll be writing about my trip. I'm tired and I'll be using jet lag as an excuse for everything for the next month. Yaay. ;-)

Thoughts of the day:

The US version of The Office is seriously the funniest sitcom I have seen since...I don't even know when! It is LOL funny and I definitely recommend watching it!

Oh yeah, tomorrow is the Ota English Speech Contest. Wish my kid luck!

Saabisu

Only in Japan...would you get a free pen with a purchase of kiwis! Hahaha. Seriously. At first I thought they put a spoon in there, and I thought to myself, "How convenient!" Now I just think, "How random!" Hahaha. Cheers to the wonder of Japanese saabisu (service). =)

Dorama!

If this was made into an Asian TV drama, Prince Akishino and his wife, Princess Kiko, would be the antagonists, right?

Princess Kiko just gave birth to a bady boy the other day, 11 years after she had her last child. The birth of a boy in the Japanese royal family will now push back the issue of whether women can ascend the throne, for another 20 to 30 years, at least. Crown Prince Naruhito and his wife, Crown Princess Masako, only have one child, and she is a girl. The crown princess had been under much scrutiny for not trying to have another child, namely a boy, to ascend the throne. Because of the stress, Crown Princess Masako had been reported to have fallen under a depression. Crown Prince Naruhito has publicly defended his wife and said that he will not sacrifice her well-being for the sake of the monarchy.

Prince Akishino, however, has "always lived in his older brother's shadow" and has "criticized his brother and sister-in-law by saying that they must put their public duties above all." It is apparent that Prince Akishino and his wife had this baby to try and secure their family's place in the monarchy (This is just my theory, by the way. Hehe). I wonder what "methods" were used to ensure that they had a baby boy. Hmmm. I'm happy for them, really, but I wanted them to have a girl, so that this widely-debated issue of whether women can ascend the throne could surface once again. (They OBVIOUSLY should be able to...duh!)

This is such a good plot for a TV drama, really! I'm gonna ask for the rights to it...as I get deported from Japan.

I'm back!

Back in Japan, that is. Did you miss me?? Didja, didja? =) Anyone up for a fishing trip?

Thought of the day:

Things that make you go "Hmm." So I'm sure you know about the new rules banning all liquids on flights now, right? Right. Anyhoo, I passed the first security check in San Diego with a small tube of chapstick gel and a pair of tweezers in my purse. Nice. Then right before boarding, an army/marine (I know, I should be caned for not knowing the difference) lady hand-searched my purse and backpack. She went thru everything and found the tube of gel, which was right next to my tweezers. She took out the gel and said that I wasn't allowed to bring it on the plane but didn't mention anything about the tweezers...at all!! UMM. So now that they're focusing on banning liquids, they're overlooking the sharp-objects ban? Weird. I passed thru one final security check when I headed for the international terminal in San Francisco. They let my tweezers pass as well. Thank goodness! I was worried that my absent-mindedness would cost me my Tweezerman. Hooray for the questionable logic surrounding U.S. airport security! Woot!
