Efficiency to the Max

This was taken from an article on The Japan Times Online:

"With an estimated daily ridership of between 3 million and 5 million passengers, the Yamanote Line is easily on a par with New York City's entire subway system, which daily shuttles around 4.8 million passengers through no fewer than 468 stations.

To accommodate the daily tsunami of commuters, at rush-hour peaks as many as 50 Yamanote Line trains circulate at once, half going clockwise and half going counterclockwise, pulling into stations at roughly 2-minute intervals."

The Yamanote line (one of numerous lines on the JR (Japan Railways)) loops around Tokyo, and can get you to must-see places such as Shibuya and Harajuku...places I always go to. ;-)

Dude, this is just ONE line on the JR. I haven't even begun talking about Tokyo's subway system! Seriously, everything is soo efficient and on-time, it's quite freaky.
